PVG Satellite Hall inviting business
Date:2018-08-24
The Satellite Hall of Pudong International Airport (PVG) will complete construction in the second half of 2019. Upon its completion, it will be the largest single satellite hall in the world.
The project, consisting of the connected S1 and S2 halls, is located at the south of PVG's T1 and T2. It will realize an integrated operation with the main building through an underground rapid transit system.
The Satellite Hall will have a building area of around 620,000 square meters and a planned commercial area of about 28,000 sq m. The taxed retail and catering businesses in the satellite hall will align with the concept of Shanghai’s “Four Brands” - developing the brands of “Shanghai service”, “Shanghai manufacturing”, “Shanghai shopping” and “Shanghai culture”, and will continue to create a demonstration area of “Shanghai shopping”. As well as this, it is hoped that the hall will improve the airport’s commercial reputation, and set the benchmark for the domestic airport industry by relying on the advantages of passenger flow resources, catering to the needs of the diversified businesses on site, and possessing high-quality brands, and exceptional customer service.
The planning of the taxed retail and catering businesses follow a development concept; enacting a classification system which will meet the diversified demands of passengers to provide a variety of different retail businesses, to improve the overall business core competitiveness and the business image of the airport.
The plan will focus on domestic taxed retail, international taxed retail and catering.
The retail projects focusing on internationally renowned brands, the exquisiteness of Shanghai and fashion culture, and Chinese culture are welcomed. The catering projects will take the multi-faceted catering needs into account, stick to the same pricing strategy of Shanghai, value the passenger experience based on public demands and reflect the cultural characteristics of the city.
According to the airport, the planned area of the taxed retail and catering businesses in the satellite hall is around 19,000 sq m, including 5,000 sq m for international retail, 4,900 for domestic retail, and 9,200 for catering, mainly distributed at the airport’s mixed floor of domestic departure and arrivals, the international departure floor and the mezzanine floor for international departures at the airport.
The expected passenger flow is 38 million passengers at the initial stage of the satellite hall. The S1 and T1 system will serve China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, and Sky Team, while the S2 and T2 system serve the Star Alliance, forming a layout featuring “Dividing the east and west, and integration of the north and south”.
As the construction of the satellite hall is progressing well, the airport is inviting business involving taxed retail and catering in advance. We are looking for partners globally, hoping to further enhance the commercial reputation of the Pudong Airport.
